Phoenix Beanie

Remember last week when I made the baby hat from what I called "fiery yarn" and said I was stash busting? Well, this is why I called it fiery, and what I bought it for in the first place.

I used a simple beanie pattern, and then this chart to get the Phoenix. I didn't change yarns for the different colours, obviously :) though it would look pretty good as written too.

Bit big for Master Eight, but then, it wasn't made for him, he's just being my handy, dandy, stand-in model.

Baby Divine Hat

The same pattern as the lovely Rainbow Divine hat I posted last week, this little firey one was dropped off at our local chemist to go to KOGO

The newsletter I got said they needed winter clothes for babies, so it was a great excuse to stashbust.

Divine Hat

Divine as in this yarn looks great in this hat, and also, that's the name of the free pattern :D

Hot Fudge Brownie Beanie

I needed to make a "manly" donation to charity last month for Nerd Wars, and also something food related for team unity. The two didn't have to be in the same project, and unity is optional anyway, but I thought I really did have to use this pattern, since our unity theme was chosen because of National Fudge Day last month. You see, this pattern is called Hot Fudge Brownie. How could I resist?

Here is Master Four modelling it, to prove it really is "man sized" and then a proof of donation shot -

the hands of the pharmacist where I dropped it off. I gave this hat to Knit one, Give one, an agency that redistributes hand knit (or crocheted) goodies to various charities. I like that they give to a variety of groups, and also that they have drop off spots in locations all across Victoria. Odds are, if you live in Victoria, there is a pharmacy near you that will accept KOGO donations. Which is awfully convenient and money saving for me, not having to post things or make a trek up to Melbourne.

Let's fly, let's fly away...

Master Four had a kinder birthday party to go to - the one little girl who loves Toothless and How to train your dragon as much as he does. I combined two free patterns to make this cute hat that converts to a cowl-y scarf or can just leave a hole for her long blond ponytail.

The body of the hat is made from a free pattern by the same wonderful designer that created the pixie slouch I used for Master Four's dragon hat I posted last week, and my epic rainbow hat. The colour work charts and ear pattern came from a free knitting pattern on Raverly "My Favorite Dragon hat". Instead of making a chain cord to tie up with, I used Miss Six's knitting nancy to make a length of i-cord and finished it with blue and yellow beads. It's very cute, and the birthday girl was highly excited by it.

(And yes, I realised I missed last month's Color Me Katie post - I'll try to get two in this month for you!)

Come fly with me...

I made Master Four this Toothless beanie for Winter Solstice. It's the same pattern (but slightly extended - more no increase rows, less rows altogether, to get a more elongated triangle) as my Epic Rainbow Hatwith eyes and ears made up to be sewn on later.

Look Ma, Imma dragon!

Supersized Slouchy Cabled beanie

Another cabled beanie, this one is super slouchy. So incredibly large in fact, that it covers Master (then)Three's head entirely.

This is available in the for sale album on the Facebook page, if you are interested in buying it.

Keep Calm and Fus Ro Dah!

I made this epic dragonborn helm for my friend's 30th birthday. It was from a free pattern on Reddit, but if you aren't of the crocheting bent, I will consider taking commissions on these through the Facebook page, just send me a message! ;) Normally I don't like making the same thing over and over, but this was pretty fun to do.

Slouchy Cabled beanie

I saw these at Jay Jays the other week. Then I saw bear beanies. And Dotti had some too. And Just Jeans, and factorie. Seems everywhere I turn these days, homestyle knits are coming in in a big way this Winter season. Personally, as a yarn crafter, this makes me very happy. I don't really give a toss if what I'm wearing is fashionable, as long as I like it and it looks good on me. But it is nice to get compliments on things you wear, and that happens more when it's in fashion. Plus, I sell more things when they are in fashion ;)

Speaking of selling things, this beanie is for sale on the Facebook page, just send me a message if you are interested. Cables are lots of fun to do, so expect to see more cabled beanies up in the for sale album soon!

School beanie

A plain slouch hat (free pattern by the fabulous April Draven) with just a little fun fur trim. (Jeez I hate working with that stuff!)

This is more accurate to the colour. It wouldn't photograph well, but it's a dark Smooze colour.

And then, just for fun, (and inspired by that video) I eye bombed it.

Strawberry Beanie

Made for my adorable two year old niece for Christmas.

Rainbow Stripe Beanie.

Or as I like to call it, the Gay Beanie. But it's ok, I can call it that, because it was a birthday present for a poof.

(He's going to kill me, but it was worth it!) :P

Oh look, rare self modelled portrait!

Last Tassled Beanie... (for now)

I didn't get my beanie-in-the-round done first. I made this purple and black tassled beanie for the person who complained I was taking a break from them instead. I figured if he wanted tassled headwear that badly it must be my job to provide it for him! ;)

More Tassled Beanies

Three more square tassled beanies, and let me tell you, am I sick of them now! One each for the kinder teachers

(so they can stop threatening to steal Miss Four's)

and one for a friend whose birthday is tomorrow, and requested one back when I first posted Master One's

I never intended to start making these for people, but when I mentioned earlier that I was almost finished my last one for a while, I got an almost immediate complaint! But I have one on my list that is done in the round, so I'm going to do that one first anyway.

Tassled Beanie

Just to give myself a break from all those red squares, I whipped up a couple of rectangles, and made Master Two a Tassle hat. It was hard to get a good photo because he wouldn't take it off, or hold still for me.

When we first moved down here, when he was only a week old, one of my friends bought the older two each a tassled beanie from a local market. They always get commented on, and they love being "Tassle Twins". Master Two has recently been stealing Master Six's hat, so I thought it was high time he had his own.

These are really simple to make, just four rectangles of double crochet, crocheted together, and four rowns of crochet around the bottom edge to neaten things up. Sew a tassle on each corner and you are good to go.

The Tassle Triplets wanted to pose all together with their hats on. Master Two couldn't stop shaking his head to make the tassles dance, but you can still see his big smile.

(Notice that the older two are still watching the tv?)
