Mis-matched Guitar playing mitts

I made these for Master Four's music teacher at the end of last year. She always looked so cold in Winter, and her hands must have been freezing in the chilly room we had, so I used the Mobius Mitts pattern to make these.

This left hand glove is extra short so the teacher could hold the strings down. I edged it in black so it would match the other hand -

which as a black guitar appliqué sewn on it.

The right hand is a little longer, for extra warmth, but is still short enough to allow easy strumming.

Oh my god, it's full of Owls!

Way back in April, I made some Owl Mitts and they were so successful I made a second pair.

I also freehanded a hat to go with them. It was a nightmare using that feather yarn, but worth it in the end for the way it looks don't you think?

Jareth Mitts

Made as part of a personal swap on Craftster, I found this pattern for crocheted owl cable gloves on Ravelry as a free download. My swap partner is as big a fan of Labyrinth as I am, so I thought she'd get a kick out of these owls that are not really owls. It was my first time crocheting cables, and it was a bit tricky at first, but I only had to frog a few rows, and only once, and then I got the hang of it. I made sure to use barn owl-esque colours, because that's the owl Jareth turns into in the movie.

And I sewed on googly eyes, to up the cute factor. I'm pernickety with details like that.
