So I'm a day late with this week's blanket post, and I completely missed last week's entirely, but I have good news - it's over!

All done bar the blocking. And since the weather here has turned from "almost spring" to "nope, still winter" I think I want to wait until yarn won't take three days to dry to attempt that. So I'll come back to this the next time we get a day or two of nice weather, but it is finished. Finito. Over. A load off my back (and hooks). It took me over a year, and now I'm enjoying a breather, a few nice, light, projects before the next epic thing. (I have my eye on an Escher tessellation fish blanket, but for that I have to learn to knit first)

Plus, I have swap crafts due. And school holidays looming. No rest for the wicked then.

Nothing done, because I don't have cash for more yarn, and there isn't any suitable grey in my stash. Going to be cutting it close if I want this thing blocked and done before the 26th!

Nothing done, because I couldn't find any matching grey yarn. I'm going to have to rip out what's been done of the second round of border and use a different colour. Another week wasted. :(

Well, I didn't make it in under a year either. Here you can see I have one long side, and half of one short side left to do on the border and then blocking. I could have had it finished in time, but I ran out of grey wool, and I couldn't find any at Kmart. So I'll have to make a trip out to the Spotlight half an hour away. And then I need to block this. But it is looking pretty cool. I'm not too stressed about spending more than a year on it, because the original goal was to finish before I turn 30.

So... did I make it? See for yourself:

Sadly no. I still have almost 3 vertical seams, and all the outside border to do. But it's not all bad news. I went back through the blog archives here, and while I did make the pattern graph on the 15th of July, I didn't even know how to crochet then. I learnt on the 19th, and on the 22nd I went and bought (well, DP bought) the yarn to start the blanket with. I started on the red squares that day. So, in order to have spent a year or less working on it, I need to be finished by the 22nd. No sweat.

While watching all of season one Warehouse 13, I blitzed through 9 lines, so I just have ten squares left to join, and then the vertical seams, and finish the outsides. Still have 4 days left before the secondary dead line on Friday... I guess you'll see next week if I made it! ;)

I got five lines done, so now half the lines are done. Just another ten lines to go, and the the vertical joins, and it's done. Well, we'll see how we go...

No lines this week. I got distracted with fun fur. :(

Did my final two squares this week. Yay! Then I counted all the squares, to double check I wasn't short. Nope. Instead, I had 5 extra somehow. So in reality, I finished two weeks ago. *groan*

I started this project on July 15th last year. The original deadline was to be done before my 30th birthday, but I might try and get it finished in a year or less, since I have three and a bit weeks until July 15th, and all I have to do is crochet it together now.

Didn't get any more squares done this week, as I haven't had the money to buy another black ball of wool yet. I suppose I should have sewn some rows together, but I made a beanie instead. Oh well. Still plenty of time to meet my deadline, but I'll try not to be so slack next week.

Got five done and ran out of wool again. With two squares left to go. It's the definition of frustrating.

I didn't get a photo this week, so you'll just have to believe me when I say I only got one done. I mean, if I was going to lie about this weeks total, I'd make up a better number anyway :P Looking back at it, that may just be last weeks "bit" and not even a whole square :( in which case I have 7 squares left to go still.

I only got two and a most done (has three or so rows left to do) so that brings me to seven and a bit left to go. Almost there, if only the tv shows I used to watch weren't all being dropped right now I'd get more done :(

Slacked off again this week. Only got two done, but that's better than nothing I guess.

Got 5 done this week, so that brings me done to only 12 left, after last weeks total of 17 left to go. Almost there! Three to four weeks should see me with all the squares finished, and just the joining together to go.

Only three last week, because I wasn't watching as much tv as usual.

None done this week. I got slack :(

What Not To Crochet

I managed to squeeze out six more black squares this week. That brings me down to 20 left - the end is most definitely in sight! :D

Just the four done again this week. I've been pretty heavy duty swap crafting, and when my partners have received you'll see it was worth it!

Only got three done this week, because I ran out of wool again. I am the black hole of black wool. I should buy myself a black sheep, seriously :P

Down to 30 now...
